Skirmish at the White Rock Nest
May 12 2024, 7:13 am - our White Rock bald eagle cam nest is near Boundary Bay in British Columbia, which is an area with a number of eagle nests and a whole lot of visiting eagles enjoying the bounty to be found in Boundary Bay. I'm not quite sure what was happening this morning - and do know that all is well now - but it looked as if another eagle may have tried to come into the nest and was promptly chased off by the resident pair. This video shows the activity from the West/Closeup cam over the nest, then from the Wide Angle cam - and towards the end of the the video, you can see a lot of large birds flying near the nest tree in the upper right. The pair is often harassed by crows, but it's my impression that at least most of the birds were bigger than that, and I think most had white heads. You can watch them live at hancockwildlife.org/white-rock-cams/ and read more about them on our forum at forum.hancockwildlife.org/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=715 ~JudyB

Hatch in Progress at Surrey Reserve
Переглядів 357Місяць тому
May 3 2024, 11:59 am - the pair at our Surrey Reserve bald eagle cam nest only have one egg this year (a second one was laid prematurely and collapsed immediately), and the chick inside is working hard to get out. Normally, when eaglets hatch, they peck their way around the middle of the egg, then push the two halves apart. That doesn't seem to be working here - I'm not sure if the membrane is ...
White Rock Eagles Defend Their Territory
Переглядів 1312 місяці тому
April 1 2024, 11:35 am - the eagles at our White Rock bald eagle cam nest have the good fortune to have a prime territory on the shore of Boundary Bay, which seems to be a great source of food for eagles. Unfortunately, it does occasionally attract other eagles who are looking for nesting places. I don't know if this was showing our resident pair chasing off a pair of intruders, or if it might ...

March 29 2024, 6:45 pm - This is the longer version of video ua-cam.com/video/lnQUDo_Ltps/v-deo.html, showing more of the labor and of Mom Brit eating the remains of the egg, and is being uploaded for research as this is an unusual occurrence, based on my 18 years of watching eagle cams. Description: the eagles at our Surrey Reserve bald eagle cam nest in BC laid their first egg of the season a...
Premature Egg Lost at Surrey Reserve
Переглядів 1612 місяці тому
March 29 2024, 6:45 pm - the eagles at our Surrey Reserve bald eagle cam nest in BC laid their first egg of the season at about 1:53 pm on March 27, and we were expecting to see a second egg tomorrow, probably in the early afternoon. Unfortunately, some internal timing was off, and it looks as if Mom Brit went into labor this evening, and the egg came out before it was ready. It appeared to col...

Second Egg at Boundary Bay Central
Переглядів 1183 місяці тому
March 24 2024, 6:21 pm - Mere, the female at our Boundary Bay Central bald eagle cam nest in British Columbia, laid her second egg for the year. I suspect the labor was over around 6:21 pm, but she didn't give us a peek until about 20 minutes later. I didn't record the time when she was resting after her hard work, but do show her giving us the first look at the new egg at the end of the video....

My guess is that it’s a duck?
Duck, it's what's for dinner.
Looked like another eagle followed the parent to the nest in an attempt to steal the food it was carrying. Saw this happen numerous times at the SWFL nest last year and on one occasion both eagles ended up on the ground. After the F eagle went missing the male ended up successfully raising the two eaglets by himself, but not without plenty of drama. Once the two eaglets got bigger they could protect the food once it got to the nest.

Nature. Hoping for viable eggs soon.
The first egg, laid on March 27, is still looking good so we are hopeful that one will hatch as expected. ~JudyB
SAD but hopefully Mon lays one or two more viable eggs later.
Happily the first egg is still looking good - and there may still be another one tomorrow or the next day. ~JudyB
Such a wonderful creation. (Still bothered about ‘Andrea’/ & recently, ‘Luca’.- R.I.P.).
Wtf am I looking at?
the way she avoids the hooked beak from facing them...
I love Apex Predators! Edit: Feathering is always a tedious job,😊.
Look at those two adorable munchkins! They are incredible!
They have to eat and this is nature❤❤❤❤❤❤
It don't get much fresher than that!
Love it is so darn funny just had to share with others they are so darn cute

Anybody know what happened with the Delta 2 nest on 56th?
We think at least one and maybe both adults are back, but so far they haven't come to the nest on a pole where the cameras are, and may be planning to nest on one of the big electric towers like they did last year. You can read about some of the non-eagle activity we're seeing recently starting here - forum.hancockwildlife.org/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=639&start=4035 ~JudyB
love driving on Ladner Trunk and counting the eagles in the trees
the duck hade a life at one point
Looks like it could be a great blue heron 🙂 & Thanks for the update 🙂
Thanks, crisam9947 - that was my guess, but hard to tell in the shadows. ~JudyB
That wasn’t an accident. Lof clearly uses her left foot to kick her brother !!!!!
Welcome home ! It's great to see him
I was wondering if there is any word on Tyr at OWl and how he is doing I have my fingers crossed
I'm sorry - he didn't make it. (little broken heart) A necropsy has been ordered, but it may be a while before we get the results. (((((hugs))))) ~JudyB
Thank you for letting me know I’m so sorry poor little guy
Hope he's doing better! Ty for doing what you do! Please keep us updated!
Be safe gorgeous 🌹🙏❣️👏👏🦅
What is wrong with this guy!? Why such aggression towards a wild animal in captivity. This just made me sick to my stomach. Show compassion and if you’re to put this on Hancock Eagles UA-cam channel, then show some respect to the viewers.
Lof is so cute!!!! She wouldn’t let go of Dad’s foot!!!!
P r o m o s m
Magestic birds, wonderful parents! Dads are unbelievable, unique !!!❤
These parents have been phenomenal since day one ❤🎉
Rest in peace... little fighter Tyr ... 😢❤🌈
I'm afraid I have sad news - Tyr passed away during the night; he would have been 81 days old this morning, July 22. He weighed 1560gm or 3.4 pounds at intake (4000gm is average for his age), and Rob from OWL said he didn't remember ever seeing a bird this thin that recovered - but we were so hoping. Hugs, JudyB
Thank you for the update. Fly high sweet baby 💔
@@YYCNature24 You're welcome. A necropsy has been ordered, but it may be a while before it happens and we get the results. ~JudyB
Congrats!
Is there a reason why the usual steps aren't being taken to avoid human imprinting at feeding?
I'm guessing the whole intake process is unpleasant and scary enough that even though food was involved, eagles would try to avoid it in the future. I'm not sure who can see what comments, so I'll add that sadly all they did wasn't enough - Tyr didn't make it. ~JudyB
They look amazing!
Animals, birds are best parents!
Please keep us posted on Tyr stats!!!! We all love him very much ❤
Sweet adorable little one! How lucky you are to keep him in your arms! And lucky him to have hour care! The most wonderful soul rewarding is to care for animals in need!!! ❤❤❤
